Eskimo-3 is a natural source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, including Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). One of the most clinically validated nutritional supplements available, Eskimo-3 has been the subject of more than 100 independent, peer reviewed, published clinical trials and studies and more than 100 scientific papers.† Purity separates Eskimo-3 from other fish oils. Produced from cold water, ocean dwelling fish, Eskimo-3 is guaranteed free of dangerous levels of toxins and pollutants.† Unlike many other fish oils, Eskimo-3 is not chemically modified to artificially increase DHA and EPA levels.
Omega-3 fish oil supplements may have several cardiovascular benefits.
Studies have demonstrated effects including lowered serum cholesterol, decreased serum trigylcerides, and reduced platelet aggregation. Research suggests that in individuals with non-insulin-dependent diabetes, fish oil supplements appear to improve insulin sensitivity.
In pharmacological quantities, omega-3 supplement acids decrease elevated plasma cholesterol, trigylceride concentrations, and blood pressure. Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids appears to have a cardioprotective effect and is currently an important topic in cardiac and nutrition research.
Additional benefits of omega-3 fatty acids include effectiveness in anti-inflammatory conditions and mental health.
In studies of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, fish oils demonstrated anti-inflammatory actions, including decreased joint stiffness and swelling.
Omega 3 and PregnancyPregnant women and infants need plenty of omega-3 6 and 9s to nourish the developing brain of the fetus and young child. If a pregnant woman gets too few omega-3s, the growing fetus will take all that's available. This could set the stage for depression in the mother. Talk to your obstetrician and pediatrician about specific requirements.
Omega 3 safety
General Interaction There are no known drug or nutrient interactions associated with increased consumption of omega-3 fatty acids through foods.
However, if you decide to take omega-3 oils through supplements (especially those containing fish oils), be sure to check with your doctor first if you are taking a blood-thinner such as warfarin or heparin.
Omega 3 Overdose: There are no known side effects associated with increasing your intake of omega-3 fish oils through foods, although fish oil capsules do pose the risk of a "burp" factor. This is a harmless, although not exactly pleasant, fish-y aftertaste that occurs with some brands of fish oil capsules.
Eskimo 3 dose not have fishy aftertaste.
Cautions One benefit of omega-3 fatty acids is that they are very safe to consume. However, most sources recommend that fish consumption be limited to two to three servings weekly because so many fish are tainted with mercury and other contaminants. Fish oil capsules don't present this same risk.
In a study of patients with Crohn's disease, an inflammatory bowel disease, 69% of participants taking the equivalent of 3 grams of fish oils a day stayed symptom-free, compared to 28% of the placebo group.
Preliminary results from a study of schizophrenic patients suggests that omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the severity of schizophrenia by approximately 25%.
Studies also suggest fish oils may be effective in psoriasis, Raynaud's disease, lupus, and relieving menstrual cramps.
